This class is a high energy, global dance inspired, booty shaking class. In this class, all booties are created equal. Twerk shop focuses on the booty, the pelvic floor, hips and thighs and ways to engage, isolate, bounce and giggle for a total body workout.
The goal is for you to have fun, love yourself, and to free your booty!
Twerking traditionally is not the hypersexualized dance we see in music videos. The dance originated in Africa and is performed by women, men and children as an expression of joy during celebrations. From East Africa to Brazil to the Caribbean these dance styles that focus on the hips and pelvis are enjoyed by every age. The purpose of twerkshop is to honor this celebration style of dance that we in north america call Twerk, and to burn a couple hundred calories while we’re at it.
What to Bring
You’ll get the most out of class in Shorts or looser fitting gym clothes. Classic yoga pants and tight fitting gym clothes restrict bounce and movement. Wear something you feel free and confident in. Heels are welcome in this class! Each class will start in tennis shoes, you can remain in your tennis shoes or change into comfortable heels for a more advanced workout. Heels should be no more than 3 inches, and must have ankle support! Booties are recommended. Knee pads! Sometimes we get a little flexible, sometimes we get a little down and dirty and for these moment knee pads can make the difference!
