Salon Guidelines

I, __________________________________________________, knowingly and willingly consent to have hair services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

_________ I understand the COVID-19 virus has a long incubation period during which carriers of the virus may not show symptoms and still be highly contagious. It is impossible to determine who has it and who does not, given the current limits in virus testing.

_________ I understand that due to the frequency of visits of other clients, the characteristics of the virus, and the characteristics of above services, that I have an elevated risk of contracting the virus simply by being in the salon.

_________ I confirm that I am not presenting any of the following symptoms of COVOID-19 listed below:

• Temperature above 100 degrees • Shortness of breath • Loss of sense of taste or smell • Dry cough • Sore Throat

_________I confirm that I have not been around anyone with these symptoms in the past 14 days.

_________I do not live with anyone who is sick or quarantined.

_________ To prevent the spread of contagious viruses and to help protect each other, I understand that I will have to follow the salon’s strict guidelines.

_________ I understand that air travel significantly increases my risk of contracting and transmitting the COVID-19 virus. And I understand that the CDC, OSHA and CA State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers recommend social distancing of at least 6 feet.

_________ I verify that I have not traveled outside the United States in the past 14 days to countries that have been affected by COVID-19.

_________ I verify that I have not traveled domestically within the United States by commercial airline, bus, or train within the past 14 days.

I understand that Retreat, and its stylists/practitioners, cannot be held liable for any exposure to the virus or any other contagion caused by misinformation on this form or the health history provided by each client.

By signing below, I agree to each above statement and release Retreat, and its stylists/practitioners from any and all liability for the unintentional exposure or harm due to Covid-19 and other communicable conditions.

What you need to know about your next visit to the salon. These are the current ground rules for reopening.

  1. Availability & Location

While we launch into this new uncharted way of business, appointments will be limited. I look forward to opening up more salon days and offering boutique mobile services in the future as we settle into the new normal. As of July 13th, salon appointments will be available;

-Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at Orange Salon in Alameda

1825 Encinal Ave, Alameda, Ca 94501

Dry Hair cuts and barber services will be available on the new Ponytail Express! More info and booking coming soon!

2.Safety and Sanitation Requirements (for EVERYONE)

- I (your stylist) will be wearing a face shield and fresh gloves for each appointment. A mask or face covering is required to enter the salon and must be worn during your appointment. Face coverings must cover the nose and mouth. Using a mask with ear straps is recommended for your hair appointments. If you don't have a mask one will be provided for you.

-Your temperature will be taken upon entering the salon. If it makes it less awkward, and more fun you can take mine too. If you show signs of illness or run a temperature I must ask you to reschedule.

-You must wash your hands upon entering the salon and will be asked to sanitize your hands if you touch your eyes, nose or mouth during your appointment.

-Chairs have been placed 6 feet apart and chair coverings will be used for each client and replaced for each new client. The chair will also be disinfected after every guest.

-All tools (brushes and combs and shears, clippers, capes etc.) are disinfected after each client. A new tool will be used on each new client (per usual).

3.How your visit to the salon will be different

-There is no longer a sitting or waiting area inside the salon. You may wait in your car or at one of the cute chairs set 6 feet apart outside the salon. I will text you when the salon is clear and ready for you to come inside.

-Hugs are not permitted so we can elbo dance instead.

-A short client consent form will need to be signed. Acknowledging the risk that comes with being in any public space at this time.

-Amenities have been cut back. Due to cross contamination risks, magazines and beverages (except water) are no longer available. I encourage you to byob, I will have paper straws you can slip under your mask to sip from.

-You get to wear a cool new face shield for shampoos and blow outs. This is a small, clear plastic visor that adheres to your forehead. You might actually like it because it keeps hair from getting in your eyes.

-Appointments are going to be extended by 10-20 minutes depending on the service to allow time for proper sanitation pre, during and post appointment.

-Contactless check out is now fully operational through the Square Appointment App, Venmo, and Apple Pay.

Many thanks and love to those of you who have reached out and kept in touch. Hair by Helzer has survived thus far because of your kindness, generosity, love and support. I have been a licensed hair stylist for 13 years. I never could have imagined that I would become so close to so many of my clients. If you are reading this it is because you are a valued part of my hair family. I miss you all. We are going to have to learn and adapt together to create a new type of hair salon experience. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and I’m looking forward to seeing you again, whatever it takes.

Happy Thoughts,

Rachel Helzer
